The history of the creation of the Valtice castle in the region of South Moravia (Czech Republic) is very interesting and rich in historical facts. And although the region is often neglected by travel agencies, and not as visited as other historical areas of the Czech Republic, there are also many architectural monuments of different periods and different styles.

Moravia is the eastern region of the Czech Republic, its capital is Brno. This fabulously beautiful corner of nature is listed in UNESCO (World Heritage Sites). Since the time when the Dukes of Liechtenstein began to rule South Moravia, it was transformed and acquired an amazing landscape. A wide variety began to appear in the styles: from baroque to romantic landscapes. Among the abundance of hills, with flowing rivers and green forests, the unique castle of Valtice is situated. We, of course, are used to ancient castles with battlements and around which high walls have been erected, but there you will find a beautiful palace with an amazing park.

Earlier on this place there was the castle of the Liechtenstein family, built in the XII century. It took more than three centuries to create the Valtice castle, a powerful baroque estate. But with the advent of 1918 and the advent of the country of Czechoslovakia, the princely family lost their privileges. After the end of World War II, the castle of Valtice, like all the property of the princely family of Liechtenstein, passed into the ownership of the state.

A huge territory with an area of 250 square km has several castle buildings, romantic gazebos, sculptures and many garden houses. In front of the entrance to the main palace, a fountain was built, decorated around with decorative boxwood and topiary. Valtice Castle in Brno has many restored halls that delight visitors with pompous decorations and lush wall decorations. It is impossible to take your eyes off the spectacular and bewitching with its beauty Mirror Hall. In addition, the Palace Chapel, the Art Gallery and the salon of Princess Carla will make even the most skeptical visitors to the castle admire. Valtice Castle received a special charm due to the decoration of the rooms with ceiling frescoes.

The castle is famous for its wine cellar. A wine festival is held here annually. Throughout the year, wine connoisseurs can come to a Moravian wine tasting. The Valtice castle is rich in wine cellars with magnificent white wines, which stand out among other varieties. It should be mentioned about the source of medicines - a pharmacy garden. For general visits by tourists, it opens in May, and in September stops demonstrating its greenhouses with aromatic and medicinal plants.

The Valtice Castle is surrounded by an English-style park with the Temple of Diana, in its appearance, reminiscent of a Roman arch. This magnificent palace was built to house the princely family and is surrounded by small hunting lodges, which were intended to relax during the hunt. The castle “Three Graces” was built in a very picturesque place, and the three statues to which the castle is dedicated personify science and muses. This castle is currently privately owned. Until now, in the castle you can find trees of different species, greenhouses with tropical plants growing in them, decorative ruins, artificial grottoes and many other natural beauties of the Czech Republic.

Valtice Castle is located on the border with Austria, and literally seven kilometers from it is the Lednice Castle. They are interconnected by an alley, which is unique itself.
