Rio de Janeiro - a unique city on the shores of the Atlantic

Brasil
(показать на карте)
Often this city of Brazil is simply called Rio. Rio de Janeiro is one of the largest megacities of Brazil and South America, which is located on the shores of the vast Atlantic. Until 1960, the city of the unfulfilled dream of the great combinator Ostap Bender was the capital of the United States of Brazil - the country of men's football, women's TV shows and everyone's favorite coffee.

• Climate

Rio's humid tropical climate is hot January and slightly less hot July. If you look at the numbers of the average annual temperature indicator, then they look quite comfortable for both football and coffee. On average, the thermometer here is kept at + 23.7 ° C. Weather conditions for all seasons of the year are distributed approximately equally. But there is a little more rainfall in January than in cooler July.

• Features of Rio de Janeiro

The city is divided into 7 prefectures, in turn, each of them is also divided into administrative districts.

There are many historical sights, natural beauties, beautiful beaches, hotels, shopping centers and other attributes of a modern metropolis. But, unfortunately, there are problems associated with the presence of disadvantaged areas.

• Favelas of Rio de Janeiro

This beautifully sounding phrase is actually a real scourge of a big city. Favelas are called the poorest quarters of some Brazilian cities. Rio's urban slums are a focal point of poverty and crime. Perhaps the adventurous mindset of the “son of a Turkish citizen” would have found application here for his talents, but even his appearance in the city of dreams, apparently, did not entail this.

• Copacabana Beach

The first thing that Ostap Bender would have likely gone to is here. Copacabana is the birthplace of bikini and the most famous Brazilian beach. Many world-famous stars come here to rest and even give their concerts. At one time, such stars as the Rolling Stones and Elton John performed at her largest concert venue in Rio. Here you can relax and admire the famous sand sculptures, and later, shaking off the white sand, go to the bars and restaurants of Avenida Atlantic.

• Sugarloaf

This mountain rises above the bay of Guanabara. It was at its foot that Rio was once laid. Climbing to the top of the mountain by cable car, you can visit the equipped observation deck.

• Ilha Fiscal Castle

Guanabara Bay has a small island called Fiscal. It has a very remarkable castle. Outwardly, it resembles a fabulous scenery or shots from a Disney movie. Such interesting architecture of the castle attracts the views of thousands of tourists. The castle has a fleet museum. But, perhaps, a real surprise for all curious people is the fact that within the walls of this fabulous castle there is also such a serious institution as the Brazilian customs service.

Of course, there are many other places of interest to visit in the city. Among them there is the most recognizable statue of Christ the Redeemer in the whole world, and the Portuguese Royal Library, the Tiradentis Palace, the Candelaria Church, and the unusual in shape Cathedral of St. Sebastian, and absolutely luxurious decor of the interior of the monastery of St. Benedict. In Rio, you can admire the beauties of the Botanical Garden and Flamengo Park, look at the Carioca aqueduct, and, of course, try to get to the famous Maracana Stadium.

For modern tourists, all this is quite accessible. You only need to save up money, get a visa and get a plane ticket. In this regard, they were much more fortunate than the “commander” Bender, because his trip to the city of dreams did not materialize, and was limited only to acquiring white pants, an inglorious fiasco on the Romanian border and the decision to re-qualify as managerial houses.
